Do not allow fear to wall you off from greatness.

The Secondhand Inspiration Project begins with a motivational quote and ventures wherever the creative path meanders.

Yohannes Gebregeorgis was a social entrepreneur and literacy advocate who co-founded the non-profit organization “Ethiopia Reads.”

Born in Ethiopia, Gebregeorgis witnessed firsthand the challenges of illiteracy and lack of access to books in his home country. To make a difference, he founded Ethiopia Reads in 1998 with to promote literacy and a love of reading among Ethiopian children.

Gebregeorgis’s work with Ethiopia Reads has made a significant impact, establishing libraries, providing books, and implementing literacy programs in schools across Ethiopia. He has been recognized internationally for his efforts, receiving numerous awards, including the prestigious Children’s Africana Book Award for Outstanding Contributions to Children’s Literature.

Through his dedication and passion for education, Yohannes Gebregeorgis has become a leading figure in the global literacy movement, inspiring others to join the cause and empower children through the transformative power of reading. My favorite quote of his–

“The beginning of wisdom is to do away with fear.”
