Step 1 — stop trying to get back to how things once were.

Most of the hurdles we clear as humans are within the racetrack of our minds.

And out of these figurative mental hurdles, our personal backstory looms as the tallest one we must jump over in stride.

Battling to get over the past can stem from various factors, including emotional, mental, and situational effects. Here are some common causes:

1. Strong Attachments:

Major events, especially when triggered by loss or trauma, can initiate deep ties that are hard to sever.

2. Unresolved Emotions:

If you have not received enough time or space to process the feelings related to an experience, its aftereffects will linger.

3. Thought Patterns:

Negative cognitive patterns, such as repeatedly contemplating stressful incidents, handcuff you to the past.

4. Trauma Cycles:

Upsetting events can unleash PTSD or other anxiety-related problems, making it tough to push on.
