Great read. The idea you mention is akin to code-switching for African American professionals. The identity I portray in an office setting or college classes is much different than the one I show with family and friends. Those identities butt up against each other and occasionally overlap like a Venn diagram, but they are separate parts of me. And there are plenty of other roles, such as being a father, a writer, etc. that divide my identity. I can relate to the concepts you present in this article — it makes a lot of sense.
