Becoming a Better Version of Yourself
--
Embrace change.
“Every next level of your life will demand a different you.”
These profound words by Leonardo DiCaprio resonate within me. Reflecting on my journey, I recognize how valid this statement is.
Throughout life, we encounter numerous phases, each with unique roadblocks and opportunities. To progress, we must continually transform ourselves into better versions of who we were yesterday.
It is a testament to the power of change and self-improvement that propels us forward, empowering us to conquer the unknown with renewed purpose.
Looking back at my past, I see a mosaic of experiences — both joyful and frustrating.
· My father passed away during finals week in my sophomore year of college.
· I made poor personal choices early in adulthood that led my peers to not take me seriously.
· I hustled and worked a myriad of jobs to pay most of my way through college but then made questionable financial decisions afterward that saddled me with debt.
· I banged against a glass ceiling at work for a long time, dangling at the precipice of a promotion, trying to not lose my grip on my goals or sanity.
I could drone on with about twenty more bullet points. You likely have a similar list.
Each chapter brought its share of lessons, molding me into the person I am today. The times I faced adversity, whether in my education, career, or personal life, pushed me beyond my comfort zone. Stepping out of familiar territory was essential for growth but also inevitable for progress.
Each challenge demanded a different me — someone more resilient, adaptable, confident, and resourceful.
Change can seem daunting, like standing at the edge of a cliff, unsure of what lies below or ahead. But during those moments of uncertainty, we often realize our true potential.
As Frank Sonnenberg said, “Lessons are repeated until learned.”
